2380 Bath

Fleur's green bathtub debuted in 1980 as the first piece in the green bathroom set, and was sold through all the years of Fleur production, It is a well-made piece of furniture (pretty, sturdy, not easy to damage) with essential accessories:

- white-green striped towel

- white tray

- yellow sponge

- silver soap box

- silver comb and mirror

The bath is fun to play with, because of its realistic parts. The shower head moves up and down on the pole, and you can turn the faucet knobs too. The plug really fits in the hole. On the side of the bath box, you'll find this description: LUXURY BATH Bath with taps and plug, which is on a chain. What's more, this luxury bath is just as complete as in real life. Hence a mirror, towel, sponge, comb and soap box are included.

2381 Toilet

In the promo photo from the 1982 booklet (see below), Fleur is busy cleaning her green toilet (wc). Have you ever seen an official Mattel photo of Barbie cleaning a toilet? Definitely not! Fleur wins the award for realism.

The toilet has a Fleur sticker on the front of the cistern, and comes with:

- yellow terrycloth cover for the toilet seat

- yellow terrycloth floor rug with white fringe

- plastic cleaning brush and holder

2382 Hairdressing Saloon

Also in 1982 - together with the toilet - Otto Simon released this Hairdressing Saloon. It seems to serve a dual function of hair salon workstation and bathroom sink. I guess it had to be both, because Fleur never had a separate sink for her bathroom. Some people remove the stickers from the mirrors (they show a price list for hairdressing services and adverts for hair brands). This is a little risky as the stickers cannot be put back again - but then, you can't have a bathroom without a sink, right?

The saloon comes with the following accessories:

- two white-green striped towels

- silver comb and mirror (same as bath above)

- blue coat for the hair stylist (very cute)

- green-white chair

2313 Shower

Fleur shower first appears in trade catalogues in 1984, so it was probably sold last. It is her second-largest piece of furniture (the largest is the orange bathroom at top of this page). This is because it has to fit the water spray mechanism activated by a pump button, and also the doll in the cabin.

This item is very well made and accessorised with the silver comb and mirror (same as bath and hairdressing saloon). In the box photo, there is also a yellow sponge and the white-green striped towel. They are not included with the shower, but are just extras for the photo.

This text is written on the side of the shower box: SHOWER Fleur's shower really works by hand. Fill the basin with water and press the pump. You also get a mirror and comb with it. Doll and other accessories not included.

Is this furniture exclusive to Fleur?

Otto Simon often used pre-existing factory molds to produce Fleur furniture. This could be for a few reasons: faster production (product could be on shelves quicker), lower costs (new designs and prototypes are expensive), no copyright issues (it was not excusive). All these things are good, but there are also drawbacks. Some furniture is the wrong size for Fleur, and sometimes it's hard to know if the item is a Fleur variation, or made for a different doll.

None of the Fleur bathroom furniture is exclusive to her. Below are a few examples of the same furniture designs used by the manufacturers of Petra, Tesco Misty, and Artful Toilet.
